Fuel System Maintanence

If you are not going to use your engine over winter (or any period over 2 months) it's recommended that you remove any fuel that's left in the tank and carburetor. If you don’t remove the leftover fuel, the fuel can go off, which can cause issues with the carburetor and fuel filters.

Most Honda and Honda clone carbs have a drain bung on them.  The bolt that holds the carb bowl to the carb is the bolt dircectly under the carb.  The other bolt off to the side of the carb bowl is the drain bung.  To drain the carb make sure the fuel tap is in the "Off" position.  Then you simply unscrew the drain bolt while holding a container under it to catch the old fuel.

Another handy tip is to pop a cover over your petrol engine and store it somewhere dry to prevent water or condensation getting into the fuel tank.
